Salvatore discovers the perfect escape from life in war-torn Sicily: the Cinema Paradiso, where the projectionist (Alfredo) instills in the boy named Salvatore, who lives in a small Italian village, overjoyed when the local movie projectionist (Philippe Noiret) reveals to him the mysteries of moviemaking, beginning his lifelong love affair with cinema.
